The first Volvo C70 Coupe debuted in 1996, developed from the Volvo P80 platform underpinning the sibling V70 sedan and wagon. The C70 Coupe had a more tapered rear bodywork. Most engine were turbochaged variants of the 5-cylinder inline engine.
