Hi, this gallery contains renders of a now 5 years old model (originally from Okt. 2006). In September 2011 a couple of further rendering tests have been executed in order to achive two results: I.) improoved pictures (including Stickers => created in "Sticker Generator") II.) pictures that will create better movies when rendered in time steps and fused by e.g. "Windows Movie MakerŪ" or something similar. Weak spot in these pictures has been the lack of motion blur. I tried to imitate this effects slightly by introducing rings and a second (grey-colored) propeller. But this has not been sufficient. The 2011 pictures are now rendered in MEGAPov v121 and thus include motion blur. Unluckily the render time is notiably higher. Creating a movie including motion blur might become extremely time consuming.... The render code of the pov file contains now these extra lines: //******** at the very beginning ******** // including: motion_blur #version unofficial MegaPov 1.21; //global_settings {motion_blur SAMPLES, SHUTTER-TIME} global_settings {motion_blur 61, 180} //******** at the very beginning ******** //******** at the line where the propeller (assembly of pin and blade = "propeller_dot_ldr") is placed ******** // comment: the propeller is moved ("translate") to <0,0,0> rotated by use of "time" parameter and translated back to original position motion_blur {object {propeller_dot_ldr matrix <1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0> translate<0,-38,-190>*-1 rotate<0,0,clock*1> translate<0,-38,-190> #if (version >= 3.1) material #else texture #end { Color0 } }} //******** at the line where the propeller (=assembly of pin and blade) is placed ******** Pretty simple, but took me a half dozen test runs to understand what "SAMPLES" and "SHUTTER-TIME" actually do have an impact on. The first set of pictures in this gallery are done with different numbers for "SAMPLES"x"SHUTTER-TIME" given in the file naming. A huge help to me has been this lugnet thread: http://news.lugnet.com/cad/ray/?n=230 about this picture: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3364 It is shocking to me that I am now at a level, which has been defined 11 years in advance by real experts of their time. With Kind Regards, Ben Ben -at- 1000steine -dot- com
