Christmas in Australia - Outside swatting flies-BBQ style Intro, Christmas in Australia is a little different from the typical cold and snowy adventures that is portrayed at Christmas time... Sit back and relax as a family show you pictures from their photo collection... we hope you enjoy :) 1. It's early morning and the girls are starting to prepare things for the big day... 2. ... Moving busily around the kitchen... 3. The lounge room and Christmas tree before it gets devastated by wrapping paper and noisy figs... The ole fireplace is never used at Christmas time, only in Winter (when the other half of the world is having summer and warmer weather) 4. The family have awoken and the twins and their boyfriends have come in to the lounge to pass their gifts... "oooh Steve, you spoil me rotten you do" said one of the twin girls... "Bonza, this is great Russ, just what I asked Santa Roo for!" said Candy the other twin... 5. Aunty Sooz and the little cousins have entered the lounge to unwrap their gifts too... 6. Outside, the family arrives and everyone gathers around at the table tucking away into their banquet... "This is some good tucker Shelia, ya did a good job love" yells Peter, Shelia's Husband... "Pass me a XXXX (four-ex) thanks Stu..." bellows Russ... "is there any Marge left?", "who wants a slice of Shelia's Pizza?", "anyone for a cuppa?", "hey, who wants to pull a cracker with me?', "what do you call that darl?", "those? They're called Rissoles love"... all through lunch, questions and laughter could be heard.... One very noisy family... 7. "Hey, did ya hear the time when one of the blonde Twins went swimming in the pool and she came out with green hair? Think it was last Christmas... we all called her the 'Greench who stole Christmas'..." Uncle Dan merrily tells - "HAHAHAHAHA" laughs everyone - "Oh and don't forget about you Peter, preparing us all drinks that day... here He is tipping tomato sauce into our glasses instead of tomato juice... he was blind as a bat"... and they continued on... and on... and on... one bad joke after another... they became worse as the night grew older... 8. Cindy, one of the twins chats away to her Uncle John about his new baby son... "He's the apple of my eye that boy is... when he's old enough I'll take him down to the ranch on the farm and show him a thing or two...it will do him good..." John said... Cindy just giggles and thinks she'd rather eat some dessert... 9. Dave the 'Chef' for the day cooks away at the Barbie... "I like mine to be cooked 'still moving' thanks Mate" yells peter from the veranda... Dave stands there and wonders who will cook his lunch... 10. One of the nieces giving 'snowy' a Bone as a gift for Christmas... every Dog has it's day... and some even get a Christmas one 11. birdie's eye view of the front.... 12. Something every family wishes to do on a hot day and that is enjoy a dip in the pool... "I hope you rested for at least an hour before you go in Chrissie.." yells Aunt Sally... the butterflies go fluttering about... 13. 'Keeping it cool, in the pool', the kids decide what to play next... 14. Peter and Sheila's happy humble home... somewhere in Australia... Brickwood park? 15. 'Merry Christmas'.... The family gather around to say thankyou and to wish you all a safe Christmas... Christmas in Australia... usually starts out with a fairly warm - hot day.. depending on which part of the country you are in... kids wake up... open their pressies, (usually around 6am for some)... the family either go out to a relli's house for lunch or stay home or off to church (not for a lot of people and depending on what your personal status is... At Dinner time it's fairly much the same... Christmas for my family was either spent at a beach or a relli's house for lunch, then off to dinner with the whole family... and then it's 'who knows' next... Glossary: Bonza - great! Santa Roo - (we don't really have our own Santa Claus... too hot for that red suit... well we do... just not the same as other places...) Pressies - presents/gifts XXXX (Four ex) - Beer Tucker - food Marge - Margarine Cuppa - cup of anything (tea/coffee/hot chocolate etc) Cracker - Christmas Cracker/Bon Bon 'blind as a bat' - too much to drink Barbie = BBQ/Barbeque (my Dad is called David and he is a chef:)) Relli's - Relatives GERMAN VERSION (to be included): Weihnachten in Australien - Draußen, grillend und Fliegen erschlagend Weihnachten in Australien ist etwas anders als das typisch kalte und schneeige Weihnachtsabenteuer... "Will jemand was warmes trinken?".
