-{FRONT-END LOADER 8459 STUDLESS}- ------------finished-------------- by Mellory (mellory.daylight[at]gmail[dot]com) (I wonder if anybody reads this...) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's start with short boring intro. I started buying lego when I was 7 (in 1999). My first lego was Energy Slizer... Yes, for you they are crappy battle robots. Of course they are, but they were excellent start to collect Lego Technic. I found Lego System too childish. And although I was 7, I prefered more technical stuff. So I bought all Slizers (ThrowBots in USA) and some Roboriders. My first real Technic was 8226 (search it in Lugnet if you want) which I bought in 2000 (when I was 8) I've missed all great sets like 8448 (Super Street Sensation), 8466 (4x4 Off-Roader), 8457 (Silver Champion) etc. Why only those and not 8868 and 8880? Because most of the sets I bought are studless so I used to build with only studless pieces... Airtech Claw Ring and Daytona Supercar are with studs and have old parts. That's what I hate. I know that even 8448, 8466 and 8457 are with studs either, but thay use new parts (especially panels) and they have less System pieces. What do I call great studless set? The most awesome studless set I own is... is...... is........... is................ Enzo Ferrari 1:10 (8653). Did you expect Mobile Crane (8421)? Yes, it's also superb and has many functions, many pieces, studless motor and so on. But Enzo was my first Supercar-like car, and it's also first STUDLESS supercar-like car from Lego! And another reason why I love it: design. Awesome design. I already added suspension into it, and it works fine. Adding 5+R transmission failed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FEATURES: Fully controlable bucket All four wheels drive Articulated steering (eh?) 6V engine Hand of God + Steering wheel steering Pneumatic airtank Studless seat (like in 8421) Studless ladder-like things PIECES USED MOSTLY FROM: 8455 Backhoe Loader 8299 Search Submarine 8453 Mini Front-End Loader 8418 Mini Loader ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Front-End Loader 8459 (or its re-relases) is pneumatic classic. You must have this set, if you call yourself Technic fan. And if you do not have this set, you can try to build its remake with actual studless pieces, just as I have done. Instructions can be found in subfolder. From distance it looks almost the same as original studded model. I find it less tough, I don't know why. All functions are kept. Bucket is easily removable. The ladder idea is given by benny80 from Brickshelf. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ JUST IN CASE YOU ARE INTERESTED: Woohoo. This is my first remake, and it also has instructions. I took 4 yellow 1x15 liftarms from my precious 8421. BLEY RULES!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Airtank is from 8299. It's the only airtank I have. What a rare piece. L-shape 3x5 blue beams are from 8558. One differential is from 8435, one from 8287. 6V dark bluish gray engine comes from 8435. This readme is written in Arial font. If you don't see Arial, something has gone wrong. Universal joint is from 8453. Replace [at] with @ and [dot] for umm, dot. Yellow technic bushes which I used can be found in 8435 or 8421. Tubing has custom lenghts. English isn't my native language. Excuse my mistakes. I'm just 14. No pets were harmed during writing this readme. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'D LIKE TO THANK TO: -Keith Hui- for main idea, design and many things from his remake I used. -Robin Huurman- for awesome instructions. -Czech AFOL forum kostky.org- for support. -Brickshelf- for possibility to upload our creations. -Myself- for bothering me with all this stuff. -The Lego Company- for... There are many things why should we say thanks to Lego. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mellory 25.7.2006 mellory.daylight[at]gmail[dot]com
