1. Some years ago, the mayor of Studley decided that the town needed a new sub-division, so he held a competition to design it. Many entries were received, but the one chosen was from a young university graduate, Brickley Roscowicz. This is the story of it's construction. First, a road needed to be built. There were 3 road connections. You can also see the footings have been poured for the buildings. 2. The first building to be started was the general store. Built with red and white bricks, we see here the bricklayers hard at work. 3. The general store is going along nicely, and the ground floor of the theatre is started. It is being build from pre-fabricated concrete sections, in the shape of an old castle. 4. The top section of the theatre has to be lifted into place with a crane. Two workmen guide it carefully into place. The general store is now almost finished. The ticket box has also been started. 5. Grey is a boring colour for a theatre, so here we see the painters at work painting it yellow. It's fun driving that cherry picker! 6. Painting is almost complete, finishing touches have been put on ticket box, and the general store is now complete. In the foreground you can also see the fountain. 7. Lots of people arrive to see the grand opening. And pretty soon it becomes a hive of activity. Over the intervening years, many changes have been made - most notably the fountain has been replaced with a statue of the mayor - but it continues to be a popular meeting place. But the people who helped build it had no idea it would become legendary among a small but enthusiastic on-line community.....
