WARBIRDS ON MINIFIG-SCALE I was always fascinated by airplanes and especially by fighters from the second Worldwar. since I was a child I tried to re-create these machines in LEGO. The more ambitious projects always came to a standstill because I ran out of bricks. Fortunately, about a year ago I discovered the wonderfull program LDRAW so This was no longer a problem. And here the are: as accurate as possible minifig-scale versions of classic fighter planes! To design them I use original 3-view drawings en technical data (measurements) from sources as 'Jane's All the World's fighter aircraft' and Airplane! magazine. I recalculate the original measurements using the good old "3 studs = 1 metre" rule (for the Anglo-saxons that is "1 stud = +/- 1 feet") I use the Leocad-shell program to build them and because I do not master the art of rendering (yet) the pics are just screenshots. Tell me what you think! If you want tot recreate the models in 'real' bricks, go ahead but let me know! models I've done so far: (not all of them get posted I think) German: Focke Wulf FW 190A-8 Focke Wulf FW 190D-9 Messerschmidt BF 109G Italian: Macchi MC 200 Seatta Macchi MC 202 Folgore Macchi MC 205 Veltro Fiat G55 Centauro Japanese Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Mitsubishi J2M3 Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate Sovjet: Mikoyan Gurevitsch MiG-3 Lavochkin LA-5FN Yakovlev Yak-9 French: Morane Saulnier MS-406 Dewoitine D-520 British: Hawker Hurricane mk II Hawker Typhoon mk I Supermarine Spitfire mk IX supermarine Spitfire mk XIV Dutch: Fokker D XXI American: Brewster F2A-3 Buffalo Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat Vought F4U-1D Corsair Curtiss-Wright CW-21B Curtiss P-36A-3 Hawk Curtiss P-36A-4 Hawk Lockheed P-38L Lightning Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk curtiss P-40N warhawk Republic P-47D Thunderbolt North American P-51D Mustang
