The Disneyland Railroad's #1, the CK Holliday, named for Cyrus Kurtz Holliday, founder and first president of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. The railroad attraction at Disneyland was first sponsored by the ATSF, from opening day in 1955 to 1974. The CK Holliday and DRR #2, the EP Ripley, were based off Walt Disney's own 1/8 scale live steam locomotive the Lilly Belle, named for his wife Lillian. The Lilly Belle was in turn based off the CP's #173. The decals were printed on waterslide decal paper, made by Testors (I wouldn't recommend it, the decal bonder doesn't work well; as can be seen, the ink still ran, and the paper wrinkled on application but the ink ran even more when I tried to smooth them out. Maybe it's just me.) Brian Williams' 4-4-0 was a huge help for the proportioning, which I felt seemed close to the 5/8 scale of both DRR #1 and #2. However, the boiler diameter on the originals is 3 feet, making the boiler on my model completely out of scale (though no apparent solution manifested itself to me). The pilot truck design is a total rip-off from Anthony Sava. For question and comments, I can be reached at: tbunts91@yahoo.com
