Minifig-scale science museum using 60894 parts. Includes multiple exhibit areas, functional stairs & elevator, cafeteria, gift shop, admin offices, toilets, planetarium, and service/maintenance area. As a science museum the main design criteria here was that this building should be bold. Futuristic. Something that uniquely stands out. Something to impress the kids. Something that looks like it may have just arrived from another planet, or about to leave for one. Plus I've been wanting to build something on stilts or similar for a while! Total Parts: 60894. Approx. 10k bricks, 4k slopes, 10k plates, 26k tiles, 3k hinge-halves, 7k other. Dimensions (Metric): 1746.3mm x 1746.3mm x 801.3mm Dimensions (Imperial): 68.75" x 68.75" x 31.55" Dimensions (Studs): 220 x 220 x 101
Project took around 6 months, although more than half of that is optimization (for rendering on less than ideal PC), render preparation, trial renders, and then the final renders which weighed in at around 200 hours. Built using MLCad and LDraw Parts Library, rendered with POV-Ray and LDView, with additional software support from LDraw LSynth, LDraw Sticker Generator, LDraw txt2dat, PHP, Paint Shop Pro, GIF Movie Gear, Imagemagick, PNGOUT.
