Info on Angled truss suspension bridge This is the ldr drawings and file for the angled truss center support suspension bridge I have made for COLTC shows. The ldr file may have duplicate (not so likely, I checked) parts, and I know several added cross members are not in this version of the ldr compared to my live model. I started this ldr file last week once I figured out how to rotate parts with desired results. The start was a little slow but I think I have the hang of it know. I got the idea for this configuration one night long ago when trying to come up with new designs. At first I did not have a use for the splitting of the angles of the truss. But later decided it would be a good bridge support with the train decks running through the middle. Once I completed the full design I incorporated a 2-lane railroad track on the bridge deck between the 2 bridge supports. I then later added a monorail that hung from the main Railroad track too supply 1 monorail track. I also have the deck design separate from my main truss bridge ldr file. I will also have a detail of the monorail supports under the bridge. I will later have a picture with all parts together to make the completed bridge in a picture. The dark grey technic beams in the center, connecting the 2 sides together, is where the bridge deck is placed. Due to the inaccuracies I did not have the angles perfect so the beam do not match up correctly in the file. In real life they fit with no problems or bending. There are more side connection points in this model but the bridge deck is all I need to make the model. As you can tell in the ldr file some areas are 10 technic beams wide. It may be over kill but this bridge can hold its weight and much more. Before the first showing I was unable to test it in real life so I was a little nervous when the show came up. But after everything was set up and we ran trains over it worked better than I thought. Even with 2 big trains going over it at the same time at full speed. The bridge did not even budge at all, no dips or any movement by the bridge at all. I think I can make the bridge deck 2 times as long for the next show without any design changes on the tower. I’m working on some other truss design and hope to have those done in the next couple months. Numb.
